When you open any streaming service, you’re bombarded with an enormous amount of categories to choose from with tons of options in each category and lists that never seem to end. Now, this is what happens in each service, and most people have more than one streaming service. That’s a lot of content to choose from! While sitting down to watch a movie or TV series should be relaxing, it really can turn into a stressful situation because of all the choices. However, you may be able to choose a series with more ease if you know more about it before sitting down to find something. Stargirl is a newly released series, developed by DC Comics and executive producer Geoff Johns. Here’s some additional info on the series to help you understand what it’s all about before giving it a try.
How did the writing style develop?
While this is a new series, the style and tone of the series dates back to the 1980s and has similar writing characteristics to E.T. and Back To The Future. The series is centered around the classic idea of young ones taking up the mantle of what an older generation did and carrying on the legacy while experimenting and finding new ways for their youthfulness to influence the show. This allows the writing style to center around unpredictability because, since the characters are high school age, they’re maneuvering life and still trying to figure out who they are.
How was the casting done?
In any TV series or movie, finding the right actors is a major make or break part of the whole development process. Stargirl is no exception. Hundreds of people auditioned for each role in the series, but the directors said the actors they wanted popped out among the rest. They were shining lights in the crowd, and the directing team knew who they wanted to cast early on. Some cast members were selected earlier than others, and as the series developed, new roles were filled. If you check out Stargirl, some of the faces you’ll see are Brec Bassinger, Anjelika Washington and Henry Thomas.
As you navigate the ever-shifting tides of media, sometimes it’s easy to fall behind the wayside and get left behind with all the new releases that come out every day. Hopefully, this will give you an inside scoop of a series you should consider checking out.
