So often we’re told about antioxidants like those found in green tea, and we all seem to know just one thing – that they’re good for you.

But what do antioxidants actually do? And why is green tea such a great source of them?

I’m no doctor, but with a little research, you can find out a whole heap of information on the antioxidizing powers of green tea. Here are a few benefits you could expect from drinking green tea.

What are antioxidants in green tea?

Green tea is packed full of antioxidants called polyphenols. The polyphenols within green tea are more called catechins, and it’s the EGCG form that offers the majority of the health benefits you feel from this hot drink. For the last several years I have been on a journey to really clean up our family’s environment. Starting with our diet and then by eliminating as many harsh chemicals as possible in the various products we use. Who knew even something as simple as dyeing eggs could have harmful chemicals. So I began to look at some of the ordinary items in my home that I use as a healthy alternative that could also have other positive benefits that I never considered.
