Children’s Museum of Phoenix Celebrates College Savings Month

While October may be traditionally reserved for pumpkins, pumpkin spice anything and breast cancer awareness, the Children’s Museum of Phoenix is celebrating education with college savings month in October. The Children’s Museum of Phoenix has over 48,000 square feet of learning, imagination and fun and this month they are promoting education in a variety of ways.  I wanted to share these great opportunities with my fellow Phoenicians.

The Children’s Museum of Phoenix and College Savings Bank have partnered to bring fun, engaging and educational programming to Museum visitors during the month of October. In addition to parents being able to pick up info sheets on saving for college throughout the month at the Museum, the following financial literacy programs and activities will be added to the Museum’s offerings:

Stop, Drop and Read

A Museum-wide story time that happens daily, October’s story time will include a focus on financial literacy with the fun and engaging children’s book Kiddie Coin Kids.

Readings of Kiddie Coin Kids will take place at various times during the month | 1:30pm

 Super Hero Cape Giveaway

On Target Free First Friday Night children will be able to take home their very own “I Can Conquer the World with a Higher Education” Super Hero cape!

Friday, October 22nd | 5pm to 9pm (Admission is FREE)

College Savings Bank: AZ529.gov Coloring Contest

In this program children will think about what they want to be after receiving a higher education and then have the opportunity to draw themselves in the future. Participants will be entered into a drawing for a $250 new savings account.

Friday, October 9th | 10:00 – Noon

Imagine, Grow and Save

What does your child want to be when they grow up? Their bright future is attainable with a higher education. Most parents and students surveyed will admit it’s their responsibility to help pay these future education costs. In this 20 minute program, College Savings Bank will teach parents how to save in a safe environment, believing that money saved today, is money less borrowed tomorrow (with interest). Children will be provided a hands-on activity during the program. Participants in this program will be entered into a drawing for $529 towards a new 529 savings account with College Savings Bank.

Program Dates/Time:

Friday, October 16th, (Member’s Extended Play Night) | 4:00-4:30, 5:00-5:30 & 6:00 – 6:30

Saturday, October 17th | 1:00-1:30 & 2:00-2:30
