Organizing The Junk Drawer Rubbermaid

With all of my OCD tendencies, having order among a house of chaos, you would think that my junk drawer would have been tackled like a running back. Oh no…my junk drawer multiplied, literally, I believe that it spawned a cousin or something.

In my kitchen I have two drawers of silverware depending on where I am standing in the kitchen so I am assuming that my junk drawer figured as much too. Well she is standing here lets toss everything in this drawer and when you are yonder we can throw it in there. Not so much.

So the wonderful folks at Rubbermaid contacted to me to receive and review their six piece, interlocking drawer organizer set. Now I contemplated using the set for organizing all of my kitchen utensils since they are a smorgasbord of disorganized happiness but I knew that I had two drawers in my kitchen screaming the help of Rubbermaid.

Take a gander at what a slob I am….(see I admit failure….failure to be completely OCD 100% of the time):

Look at all of that JUNK! Wet towelettes, toothpicks, batteries, pot holders and mits, rubberbands OH MY!

Now here is what my fabulous drawers look like after unloading all of the contents on my counter and organizing “the stuff” with the help of these great tips:

What is super awesome is that these trays have special feet to help stabilize them so they do not shift and moe around in your drawers like traditional organizers. What else did you expect from Rubbermaid? Plus with the various tray sizes you can configure your organization which ever way you want. Like in my drawers I split up the trays to effectively organize all my junk like my batteries for my kids toys, the candles for the many birthdays we have and will celebrate, the toothpicks I use for baking and I can easily access my ziploc bags without all the stuff getting in the way. And what is with the door knocker?

Now the second drawer is also much much more functional and look! You can see all my pot holders and everything has a place, even all the Chuck E. Cheese tickets we still need to use have a spot.

Rethink What Love Is

Leslie Blodgett is just a ball of fun if you ask me. When I reviewed her perfume line, I felt that her thought process in her campaigns for her products completely epitomizes a woman; I mean she really nails what life means to be a woman.

Her newest brain child is “Rethink What Matters” where women can participate in fun quizzes to let loose their thoughts and feelings. Maybe confess to some secrets you have held inside about love, finding yourself, even your views on politics. Each week a new topic and Leslie’s fabulous products will be featured as well as the option to enter to win more goodies!

This week the topic was love and public displays of affection. I offended myself by fighting to answer these the way I needed. The questions are cheeky and brutally honest in regard to maybe the simple flirtation in the office. Spray Away Germs: MyClyns Giveaway

Reward Your School Box Tops for Education & Giveaway

Confession: I am one of THOSE moms. I save all the tabs off of pop cans to send with my son to school. I send in everything the PTO requests for fundraisers (otherwise they might fire me from my Board position) and of course I am a HUGE proponent for effortlessly snipping each and every box top from each and every participating product that prints box tops on the packaging.

The Perfect Nursery from QTips

Each of my pregnancies is so rich in my mind. Pure Energy, Pure Fun PlasmaCar, Win IT

Are your kids the imaginary play and or full of energy type of play kids? Mine are in every sense, if you give them toys that require their own minds and energy they are off and running, literally. I was seeking more toys for my kids to enjoy outside for play time since they are growing up so fast. I found the PlasmaCar.

The PlasmaCar is one fun ride! The “car” requires no battery power, plugs, just the inertia and energy or your own body and movement to really get cooking. But before the ride, some assembly is required.

But as you can see…the assembly is ever so simple. The wheels, the steering wheel, the steering wheel cap and a hex key to tighten down the nut and bolt on the steering wheel. I would suggest a rubber mallet as the instructions indicate for seating the front wheels and the steering wheel into place.

Once you have taken the short amount of time required to assemble your kids will be off and riding! To “power” the PlasmaCar all your kids have to do is grab the steering wheel at the most narrow location, while seated of course, and turn the wheel from side to side in a swift motion. Just think of how you see people on TV pretending to drive a car, same concept. This action coupled with inertia, centrifugal force, and gravity can really get this toy on the go! Just look at all the fun the kids were having:

Even more important than the fun is how SAFE the toy is to use by the kids (and adults, safe up to 220lbs of ride on fun). Morsel Monday and NutraSalt Giveaway

Savory Garlic, I used that on my spaghetti dish when making garlic bread. Finally, my favorite is the African Medley which I used to make my Turkey Chili. The African Medley has flavors of cinnamon, peppers, ginger, and again the right balance of sodium and potassium. I know you are thinking “cinnamon? In my Chili?” YES!

Turkey Chili:
1.5lbs ground Turkey

1 can Pinto Beans

1 can Black Beans
1 can diced tomatoes
1/2 can of corn
1/4 cup onion, diced
2 cloves of garlic, diced
2 T. finely chopped Italian Parsley
2 T. finely chopped Cilantro
2 T. Olive Oil
1/4 c. Nutra Salt African Medley, divided (can be substituted with  2 tsp. cinnamon, 2 tsp. cumin, 2 tsp. ground corriander, 1 T. chili powder, 1 tsp red peppers, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp ginger, 1/4 tsp onion powder)
I used my Cuisinart Multi-Cooker but a stove top cook pot works well too. Pour Olive oil into pan heating over medium heat, sautee onions and garlic until almost translucent add in ground turkey, parsley, cilantro, and 1/8 c. of NutraSalt African Medley (or the above substitutes halved). Cook until meat is browned and spices are mixed well. Add the can of tomatoes, beans, corn and remaining spices. Bring to a boil (add water if needed, but the canned juices should provide enough), stirring well, reduce to a simmer for at least an hour to let all the flavors mix. Serve with cornbread.
